Acne usually appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders because these areas of the skin have the most sebaceous or oil glands. Hair follicles connect to oil glands.

The follicle wall can swell and produce a whitehead. Or the blockage may open to the surface and darken, causing blackheads. Blackheads look like dirt stuck in the pores, but they are actually full of bacteria and oil, which turn brown when exposed to air.
Acne are raised red spots with a white center that appear when blocked hair follicles become inflamed or infected with bacteria. Blockage and inflammation deep in the hair follicles produce cyst-like bumps under the surface of the skin.

Other pores in the skin, which are openings of the sweat glands, don’t usually cause acne. There are certain things that can trigger or worsen acne. The following reviews are quoted from the Mayo Clinic, Saturday (7/11).
1. Hormonal changes
Androgens are hormones that increase in boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and produce more sebum. Hormonal changes during middle age, especially in women, can also cause acne.
2. Certain drugs
Certain medications, including those containing corticosteroids, testosterone, or lithium, can trigger or worsen acne.
3. Diet
Research shows that eating certain foods, including foods rich in carbohydrates, such as bread, bagels, and chips can worsen acne. More research is needed to examine whether people with acne would benefit from following certain dietary restrictions.
4. Stress
Stress doesn’t cause acne, but if you already have, stress can make it worse.
5. Age
People of all ages can get acne, but it occurs most often in teenagers.
6. Family history
Genetics plays a role in acne. If both your parents had acne, you will likely develop it too.
7. Oily substance
You may experience acne where the skin comes in contact with oils or oily lotions and creams.
8. Friction or pressure on the skin
This can be caused by items such as cell phones, cell phones, helmets, tight collars and backpacks.
