The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) organized an event in Doha in support of world football legend, Brazilian Pele. The organization’s president, Alejandro Dominguez, said the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) was asked to change the emblem of the national team. He currently has five stars for every world title. It is proposed to replace three stars with three hearts in honor of Pele, who is the only three-time world champion.
“We want to send all the strength and support to Pelé and his family so that he recovers as soon as possible. He was a genius and the first number 10 is associated with him. Afterwards, other “dozens” appeared and various comparisons arrived. But Pele will always be unique.
We want to seize this moment and invite CBF to change three of the five stars they have on their crest with hearts in honor of Pelé”, quotes Marca Dominguez.
Pelé won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958, 1960 and 1970.
On November 29, Pele was hospitalized. He was reportedly unresponsive to chemotherapy and was receiving palliative care designed to ease the pain of the man’s final days. Doctors later reported that Pele was in stable condition.
