The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved the first pill to treat a coronavirus infection.
The drug molnupiravir (molnupiravir) of the company “Merck” is the second drug authorized by the European regulator for the treatment of COVID-19 after Remdesivir.
Studies show that molnupiravir may reduce the ability of the coronavirus to multiply in the body, thus preventing hospitalization or death of patients, the EMA commented, recommending that member states stock up on the approved drug.
As it is known, last week Great Britain became the first country to approve the antiviral oral pill against COVID-19 of the company “Merck”, informs 20minutos.
