The electronic eye of the Police 24 hours a day in emergency rooms

(ANSA) – VARESE, NOV 26 – Against attacks in emergency rooms, the province of Varese is the first in Italy with an innovative video surveillance system. The electronic eyes present in hospitals will, in fact, be monitored live by the Police. More safety in the healthcare facilities of the Varese area thanks to the agreement signed between the Police Headquarters and the Sette Laghi and Valle Olona Asst. The images collected by the video surveillance systems installed in the emergency rooms will be shared via live video connection 24 hours a day with the operations center in Piazza Libertà. The protocols were signed this morning: it is the first experience, it has been underlined, of this type in Italy. Signed by the police commissioner Carlo Mazza and the general managers of the two Assts, Giuseppe Micale and Daniela Bianchi. “With this system we can directly view the images and therefore make the patrol’s intervention more effective – said the commissioner – there will be a double function: preventive and repressive, with the possibility of using the images also to proceed with the arrest deferred in light of recent regulatory changes”. “Thank you for this agreement – added Micale – our operators feel more protected knowing that surveillance is online 24 hours a day”. Bianchi testified the same, following the opening of the police station at the Gallarate hospital, which will be followed by that of Busto Arsizio in mid-December: “For our operators, the arrival of the police station has made the difference, they are really happy. We have 13 cameras in Busto Arsizio and 12 in Gallarate.” Thanks also went to the prefect Salvatore Pasquariello, who also spoke: “As the provincial committee for public order and safety we have kept our attention high and we have often spoken about it with the local police and law enforcement agencies. The topic it was faced with conviction and the results arrived.” (HANDLE).
