German automaker Volkswagen’s smallest electric model ID.2 could reach customers in 2025, but British media Autocar available information shows that Volkswagen is preparing several versions of this model – it is planned as a hatchback and also a compact crossover. Work is also underway on an all-wheel drive version with 300 horsepower.
Little is known about these models yet, but it is known that Volkswagen’s R division is working on the development of several electric models, while the sportier versions of the ID.2 could compete with cars like the Abarth 500e.
Compact crossovers have proven to be a very popular choice and VW currently offers two such models – T-Cross and T-Roc. It is not clear how VW plans to position all these models in the market and whether the ID.2 crossover version will gradually replace the two current models with an internal combustion engine. It is expected that as the year continues, more and more technical information about the ID.2 model will appear, while the model is expected to enter the market in the second half of 2025.
