The electric Škoda Citigoe is sold out, it can no longer be ordered – ČT24 – Czech Television

The carmaker came up with an electric version of the Citigo minivan last year. From the beginning of the year to July this year, it delivered 6,400 cars to customers worldwide. “The high interest in the Citigoe iV exceeded our expectations and confirmed more than the competitive price and quality of the first fully electric Škoda car. Sellers in all markets used up their quotas earlier than planned, which is why we were forced to close the receipt of orders, “said Pavel Jína, a spokesman for Škoda ČR.

At the beginning of September, Škoda introduced the brand new Enyaq electric car. He should reach the first customers before the end of the year. The offer of cars with an electric motor is complemented by plug-in hybrids Superb and Octavia, which have already been ordered by over 200 customers. The batteries of these cars, which have, in addition to the electric motor, also a normal internal combustion engine, can be recharged from an external source.

The Octavia will also be offered in a mild hybrid version, ie with a battery with a lower capacity, which only serves as a support for the internal combustion engine. The alternative drives for the Škoda are complemented by the natural gas version, which is available not only in the Octavia but also in the Scala and Kamiq models.

“We assume that the popularity of electrified cars will continue to grow,” said Jiří Maláček, director of the Czech representation.

At Superb, 12 percent of newly registered cars currently account for plug-in hybrid iV. For the Octavia, around five percent of the newly registered cars are occupied by the G-TEC natural gas version every year.

Few places to charge, high price

The number of electric cars or so-called hybrids in the Czech Republic is constantly increasing, but in comparison with other European countries, the country is significantly behind. The problem is mainly that there are no charging stations, of which there are just over four hundred in the Czech Republic. And customers are discouraged by the higher price.

However, at the beginning of September, the Ministry of Transport announced that it would give sixty million crowns of European money for their construction. There could be at least eight hundred of them in the Czech Republic within three years. Škoda also wants to get involved in building a network of charging stations in Europe.

“We assume that we should be able to operate eighty to one hundred charging stations every year. This means that we are now entering a phase of more intensive construction, “said Tomáš Chmelík, the manager of ČEZ’s clean technology department recently.

Some studies state that in ten years more electric cars could be driven in the Czech Republic than cars with an internal combustion engine.

Electric cars are manufactured in three places in the Czech Republic. The first was the Hyundai car manufacturer in Nošovice, which manufactures the Kona Electric car. According to the manufacturer, this is a car that has a range of 484 kilometers, its price is around one million crowns.

The North Bohemian carmaker Kaipan also manufactures its electric car. The Kaipan 415 electric car is a small two-seater car that can also be driven by people with an AM driving license, which can be obtained after receiving the first identity card. Its speed does not exceed 45 kilometers per hour. A completely assembled car costs 400 thousand crowns.
