The electric pickup will be able to drive

Few probably ever believed that the powerful and rugged American pickup trucks, the ones that were really meant for the heaviest tasks, would be electric right away.

So wrong one can take. The electric vehicles are constantly gaining new ground.

Both vans, buses, trucks and various construction machinery are now being switched to electric operation. On a large scale. The same goes for the big American pickups.

In famous American tradition, this is pickup in size XXL.

Arriving ahead of time

The interest in Ford’s electric F-150 Lighting has been huge. Nor is it wrong to say the same about Tesla’s controversial Cybertruck.

Now Chevrolet is also coming on the scene, with its Silverado EV.

Here, too, customers are in line. Fortunately for impatient customers, the car is not far away. Deliveries are scheduled to start as early as the spring of 2023, but as a 2024 model.

Here it has gone away and you are actually ahead of schedule with development and production. It is not quite common in the car industry during the day.

Full fart i 2024

The new Silverado EV pickup is thus far from being fully developed. These days, slightly camouflaged versions of the car are being tested at GM’s own test site in Milford, Michigan, just west of the city of Detroit.

It is also in Detroit, at GM’s Orion factory, that the new electric pickup will be built. Incidentally, the same factory that built the Opel Ampera-e, which was delivered to Norway. Broom has been visiting the factory. Read more about it here:

The production line is now being prepared for larger tasks. As mentioned, deliveries will start in the spring, while full production is expected in 2024.

Will get a ride

GM has now conducted a survey among the many customers who have ordered the Silverado EV, to find out what it will be used for. Everything indicates that it will get a ride.

As many as 95 percent say that they will use the car daily and that it will be used for typical pickup tasks. That is, with significant load on the plane.

87 percent say they want to tow a heavy trailer with the car, while as many as 76 percent say they want to use the car for off-road driving. That is, where there are no roads.

Now many people need a charging box – this is important to know

Proper testing is probably a good idea. There are many indications that the cars will be used harshly.

Under 400,000 kroner

The new Chevrolet Silveradao EV will come in several editions. The cheapest costs from $ 39,900 in the domestic market. This corresponds to just under 400,000 Norwegian kroner at today’s exchange rate.

Just like the Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning, the Chevrolet Silverado EV does not come to Norway either.
