The German Mercedes patented the name for the “battery gecko”, ie the abbreviation EQG, already in 2016, and even then it raised a big wave of various reactions. The European Patent Office has now accepted two more registrations directly related to electrical off-road.
–
These are the designations EQG 560 and EQG 580, which can clearly indicate to us that if the electric G arrives, it will have at least two power variants. At the same time, it is not at all unrealistic that the offer will subsequently grow even further. The patent application is now being examined by experts and its approval is being assessed.
–
At the moment we do not know what the electric model EQG should look like or how it will be powered. However, due to various experiences, we can guess that it will have a square body with a sense of detail and probably also four-wheel drive, which in the electric version is provided by four electric motors, each for one wheel.
–
However, the patent patent itself does not necessarily mean anything. However, Mercedes make no secret of the fact that by 2030 it wants to produce half of its models for electricity. Unfortunately, it is unclear at this time which side of the barrier the G-Class will be on at that time. When a possible electric G turns out is also still a mystery.
