Expected next spring, the new three-wheeled electric scooter from the Japanese brand uses new standardized batteries.
Still stubbornly absent in the electric segment in Europe, Honda continues to expand its range in Japan with an offer primarily intended for professionals. After launching the Benly: e last April, the Japanese manufacturer completes its offer by announcing the launch of two new three-wheel models.
Unveiled at the end of 2019 at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show, the Honda Gyro e: was especially for delivery applications. Equipped with a platform to easily accommodate a transport box, it is completed by the Gyro Canopy, a version designed on the same basis and equipped with a roof supposed to protect the driver.
Removable and standardized batteries
If he does not communicate the technical information of the two models, the manufacturer specifies that they are equipped with its new device of removable batteries. Standardized and called “Honda Mobile Power Pack”, the system was developed jointly with other manufacturers. In addition to being able to easily swap the battery from one model to another, this standardized system also offers advantages in terms of battery exchange stations which could thus be shared between several brands.
In Japan, the two versions of the Gyro will be marketed next spring.
