At the start, he stands on the rear wheels, overcomes the 400-meter sprint in 8 seconds and lights up to 270 km / h on the tachometer at the end.

Do you remember the electric Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, which the carmaker introduced in April this year? The unique prototype was not a belated April Fool’s prank, but an extremely powerful racing machine, the parameters of which the carmaker still hid from us at the time. Today, however, it reveals all the details and adds an interesting video.

On it we can see an electric Mustang at the start of a classic sprint for ¼ miles, which is about 402 meters. At the start, the car stands on the rear wheels, reaches the end of the straight in 8.27 seconds and its speed is around 270 km / h at that moment. Impressive, don’t you think? It’s not just Ford’s fault.
The Blue Oval joined forces with Cascadia Motion, which significantly helped with the development of the powertrain. It consists of four electric motors, each reaching up to 10,000 rpm and a maximum output of 350 kW (approx. 476 hp).

However, the power of electric motors does not add up, so do not count on a total power of 1400 kW. However, even the resulting 1044 kW (approx. 1419 hp) is not enough. Especially when looking at the maximum torque of 1120 Nm, one is not surprised that the car is so willing to stand on the back.
„Since the discovery of the car, we have continued to fine-tune it, and now we know that we are only scratching the surface of what we should be able to achieve with so many electric horses in sprint races,Adds Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, in a press release.

The bloated electric sprinter should present himself to the public live for the first time at the NHRA US Nationals races, where he will face a special Ford Cobra Jet on conventional fuel. It will also be possible to watch the race online.
