The American company Optibike is one of the oldest manufacturers of electric bikes in the USA, while its latest venture is the Optibike R22 Everest electric bike, which he writes about electrek.co. You can already tell at first glance that this is not an ordinary electric bike that someone would use to commute to work. Its technical parameters make it possible to calmly go up to the top of Mount Everest, as stated by the manufacturer himself. However, this is a bit of an exaggeration and the home of the R22 Everest will be difficult terrain and high mountain climbs. The full-suspension frame is made of carbon fiber and the giant battery with a capacity of 3,260 Wh cannot be overlooked.
It consists of two battery packs that can be completely removed from the frame. When we then compare the capacity of batteries with ordinary e-bikes, we come to the fact that in the case of the R22 Everest model, the capacity is 6 times higher than the standard. But that’s not all Optibike charges a lot of money for. The electric novelty for brave riders will cost 18,900 dollars (455,000 CZK). The possible owner of the bike will be able to use the gas handle and the ability to drive up to 58 km/h. The central PowerStorm motor with an output of 1,700 W and a torque of 190 Nm takes care of the drive. Shifting is ensured through a special Rohloff Speed 500 hub with 14 internal gears.
There is also complete suspension, where, for example, the travel of the rear suspension is 200 mm. And since you probably won’t find a more expensive electric bike on the market at the moment, the manufacturer promises that each piece will be handmade. The electric bicycle is the result of 25 years of development and production of the brand.
