The Elden Ring patch suggests ray tracing and includes references to new maps – Games – News

Elden Ring update 1.07 includes hidden options for ray tracing. A data miner, who shares his findings on Twitter, found this out. The update also appears to include pointers to new areas, perhaps for future DLCs.

The dataminer Lance McDonald report on Twitter that the Elden Ring code after the 1.7 strings contains related to ray tracing options. McDonald later reported who managed to enable the option in the game’s settings menu by making a small change to the executable. The rendering technique is currently not working. However, the addition of ray tracing options suggests developer FromSoftware wants to add this functionality to Elden Ring in due course.

Elden Ring update 1.07 also includes references to two new maps. The dataminer Sekiro Dubic report on Twitter that the update includes audio files that reference the “m20” and “m45” regions, which are not currently in the game. M20 would be a novelty inheritance prison as existing legacy dungeons use similar names. For example, Stormveil Castle is m10 and the royal capital of Leyndell is m11, writes Sekiro Dubi. M19 refers to the area where the final boss battle takes place. It is not known what kind of area will become m45; further details on the two new maps are not yet in the Elden Rings files.

The two new maps could become part of a new expansion. Rumors have been circulating for some time. For example, previously published references and pictures of arenas, also discovered by Lance McDonald. These arenas are not yet officially accessible in the game. Developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco have not officially shared anything about the arrival of the Elden Ring DLC.

Lance McDonald previously shared images of an unreleased arena in Elden Ring.
