The El Clasico summit between Barcelona and its arch-rivals Real Madrid, in the second leg of the semi-finals of the King’s Cup, witnessed some arguments and an objection to the referee’s decision, in the match that was held at the “Spotify Camp Nou” stadium, on Wednesday.
A verbal altercation broke out between the Brazilian Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid player, and Gavi, the Barcelona player, and ended with a warning for the two, at the 26th minute of the first half.
The Brazilian went to take the ball from the Barca player after a mistake in his favor, as he pushed him from behind, so the two players clashed, and some of the stars of both teams were forced to distance one from the other.
Busquets and Camavinga were able to end the clash between the two young talents, so that the turn came to Martinez Monoeira, the referee of the match, to decide to issue the yellow card to the players.
Yellow card for Xavi
The confrontation flared up early, after Xavi Hernandez, the coach of the Catalan team, protested against Monoeira, the referee of the match, which cost the Barcelona coach a yellow card.
The referee went directly to the bench for the local team to warn Xavi, who protested against a touch of hand against Austrian David Alaba, the royal player inside the penalty area, but the referee ordered the continuation of play and warned Xavi, at a time when the Spanish newspaper Sport’s report revealed that the fans of Barca strongly attacked the referee from the stands after this case.
