The Eighth Edition of the National Poetry Contest “Unknown Streets” has begun.
The beginning was made in 2012, when Maria Mutafchieva published her school poems in a book named after the most popular song of the Mary Boys Band – “Unknown Streets”.
Soon after, the idea of a poetry contest for schoolchildren from all over the country with that name also appeared. Next to Mary in this idea are: Milena Andonova – director of the Mathematics High School in Burgas and Rumiana Emanuilidou – journalist and publisher.
They are united by the belief in the talent of young people who, even in the 21st century, create poetry and share their thoughts with the white paper and with the world.
Maria Mutafchieva extends an invitation: “Share your thoughts with us!” Submit your free-form poems for the Eighth Edition of the “Unknown Streets” National Poetry Contest! If you are students from class VII to XII inclusive, this invitation applies exactly to you:
Together with “Znatsi” publishing house and PPMG “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov” – Burgas, we invite you to send three of your poems in the period 1-31 October, from which you indicate a favorite that you think represents you best! Milena Andonova and Rumiana Emmanuelidou and I will read the poems and award the first three in the categories: “From VII to IX class” and “From X to XII class”. We believe in you – the students, our children, our future! We are curious about your thoughts and feelings, the way you express yourself, walking the “unknown streets” of creativity! Good luck!”
You can find all the information, regulations and how to submit poems for the contest on the high school’s website: https://pmgbs.com/mery/
The selected works will be published in the newspaper “Faktor”.
Their authors will receive diplomas and awards from PPMG “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov” and publishing house “Znatsi”, music and books by Maria Mutafchieva and Mary Boys Band. They will also have the opportunity to read them in person in front of an audience at the final in November.
