On Friday, July 16, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which had been closed for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was reopened to visitors.
Although all tickets for the Eiffel Tower had already been sold online, tickets could also be purchased on site in the afternoon and evening.
“It’s so great to see you again,” the Eiffel Tower staff wrote on their Twitter account.
Due to quarantine restrictions, the Eiffel Tower was closed at the end of last year.
Although it was originally planned to open as early as December, the spread of the pandemic has so far prevented it.
At present, visitors to the Eiffel Tower must wear masks and observe social distance.
However, from 21 July, stricter rules will come into force again in France, and visitors to the Eiffel Tower will be required to present a Covid-19 certificate stating that the person has been vaccinated, ill or has just passed a negative test.
However, children and young people are not covered by this provision until further notice.
The Eiffel Tower is usually visited by around seven million people a year.-
However, last year the number of visitors fell sharply due to quarantine restrictions and a decrease in the number of foreign tourists.
The tower, also known in France as the “Lady of the Iron Lady” (La Dame de Fer), was built in 1889 for the Paris World’s Fair.
