Two researchers from the Laboratory Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, India, analyzed the temperature of the moon’s surface at night, at six different locations on the near side of the moon – or the direction the moon faces. -living in front of the Earth.
These temperature records were created by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), which was launched in 2009.
LRO is equipped with an instrument that uses seven infrared thermal cameras to measure the temperature of the moon’s surface.
The team looked at the temperatures recorded from 2017 to 2023, and found something strange in the data taken between April and May 2020.
At the six sites, researchers found an unusual drop in temperature, between eight and ten degrees Kelvin (or about 14 to 18 degrees Fahrenheit), which seems to correspond to this period of closure.
