Climate change in Indonesia which is very extreme has a major influence on human health. In 2023 extreme weather starts from April to May. Several areas in Indonesia experienced extreme weather changes caused by an increase in air temperature and caused more water vapor to evaporate into the atmosphere. Which then can increase the intensity of rain. This affects human health both physically and non-physically.
Humans cannot prevent climate change. However, humans can be alert so they can maintain health during climate change. By maintaining your diet, drink enough water so you don’t get dehydrated.
Here are some examples of the effects of climate change
1.Excessive hot weather can trigger heart disease
Increased air temperature will affect heart health conditions. And if someone is dehydrated and exposed to extreme heat, it can trigger damage to brain function and will affect human behavior.
2. Extreme cold weather causes decreased immunity
In addition to hot weather, extreme cold weather can also reduce the body’s immune system and make it susceptible to disease because bacteria in the body are trapped and cause the immune system to decrease.
3. Climate change can affect the life cycle of mosquitoes and the intensity of mosquito suction.
Climate change will accelerate adult mosquitoes to digest the blood they suck, so that the suction intensity will be higher. This results in an increase in the frequency of disease transmission which causes humans to get sick. Example: dengue
Several efforts can be made by the community in dealing with the threat of disease due to climate change.
1. Apply clean living behavior by washing hands with soap.
