The Effectiveness of Anti-Russian Sanctions Decreasing, Says Russian Foreign Ministry

The arsenal of anti-Russian sanctions is becoming smaller, and their effectiveness is decreasing. This was stated by the Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Birichevsky.

“This policy is clearly running out of steam, its arsenal is getting smaller, its effectiveness is rapidly falling,” Birichevsky told RIA Novosti. He added that Russia is ready for EU sanctions. According to him, they are causing more and more damage to the initiating countries themselves, and also do not remain without a response from Moscow.

Earlier, the European Union approved the 12th package of anti-Russian sanctions. It is noted that from January 1, the EU will introduce restrictions on the import of non-industrial diamonds mined, processed or produced in Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to this, reports TV channel 360. They also reported that Russia expanded the list representatives of countries of European institutions and EU member states who are prohibited from entering the country.
