EDP launches a solidarity collection for Fundación Sevilla Acoge that will take place on the 27th and 28th at the Corridor Fair
For L.A., January 26, 2023 2:13 p.m.
The EDP Seville Half Marathon this edition will have a strong solidarity component. Thus the XXVIII edition, which is celebrated this Sunday 29, encourages its runners to help vulnerable people donating sneakers in good condition.
Footwear is an essential item and in the case of practicing sports it is important that they are in good condition, since if they are worn or heavily used they can favor injuries. However, even if they are not used for sports, they are used for other uses. For this reason, EDP, together with the Sevilla Acoge Foundation, whose mission is to support the migrant population to integrate into society, have made available to runners and assistants a space located in the EDP stand at the Corridor Fair of the EDP Half Marathon of Seville, to carry out a sneaker collection. All those who want to participate in the initiative can do so on January 27 and 28 at the San Pablo Sports Center.
It doesn’t matter if the donated shoes are race or walk, child or adultall the pairs will be collected to give them a second life.
In addition, EDP has launched a challenge to encourage participation. If the 500 pairs of donated shoes are reached, the company will make an extra financial donation of €2,000, which will go to the social causes carried out by the Fundación Sevilla Acoge.
Carmen Fernandez, brand and communication director of EDP Spain explains: “At EDP we have always wanted to bet on actions that have a positive impact on people. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate this race than making all the runners and fans participate in such a beautiful solidarity initiative and at the same time as simple as it is to donate your running shoes, new or used, so that from the Fundación Sevilla Acoge they can continue adding kilometers».
For its part, from the Sevilla Acoge Foundation, its president Pepe Chamizo, assures that «this initiative comes at a crucial moment in which many people, of all ages, require slippers. We have one great demand of people who need footwear because the one they have is fragile, does not shelter and go almost barefoot. These types of actions are very positive and for this reason we want to thank EDP and all the people who are getting involved and assure them that they will be for people who need them”.
