The editorial committee in Oslo SV is unanimous in favor of NATO membership after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Their recommendation for the annual meeting of Oslo SV is as follows:
“The Russian invasion of Ukraine has changed the security situation in Europe. Oslo SV believes that the best thing would be a new defense alliance without major powers, but as long as this is not realistic in the foreseeable future, membership in NATO is the most credible guarantee for Norwegian security. Oslo SV asks the party to initiate a broad debate on Norwegian defense and security policy towards the next national meeting. The countries of Europe must commit themselves to cooperation for peace and democracy. “
