Mika Tommola, the journalist of MTV Uutisten who was accused of abuse and known as the “final relaxation man”, recently returned to work and to TV screens after the criminal charge became public.
– I returned to work as normal, nothing more strange, Tommola commented on his return to Iltalehti last week.
MTV Uutisten’s editor-in-chief Tomi Einonen says that Tommola has returned to his usual work.
– We went through this and discussed it with Mika. He has now taken his summer vacation, returned last week and does normal work as a TV reporter for us, he commented.
Einonen does not reveal in more detail what charges have been discussed.
– Those are discussions between us and Mika, he states.
The case will also be reassessed by MTV, if Tommola is found guilty of assault in court.
– That is another matter, then we will look at the situation again if there is a need.

Earlier in April, Tommola commented to MTV Uutis about the evening from which the abuse accusations originated. He is accused of beating his wife.
– I’m sorry for everything, I’m really sorry that this has happened. The situation escalated from a completely unnecessary, self-centered outburst of rage when my wife took my phone, Mika said.
He confirmed to MTV Uutis that he was “a little drunk”.
– I took a small table lamp and threw it on the floor. The lamp hit the bed and then my wife’s leg.
According to Tommola, his wife bruised her leg from the lamp. An ambulance was called to the situation and the police filed a criminal complaint.
He assured in the interview that the intention was not to harm his wife. He also stated that any kind of violence is completely condemnable.
After the incident was reported, Tommola was not seen on screen for about three months. He went on summer vacation shortly after the incident.
– Spring is the best vacation time, Tommola commented to Iltalehti at the time.
