Twitter has confirmed the arrival of a function that its users have been demanding for years: the button to edit already published tweets.
“Now that everyone is asking… yes, we have been working on the edit function since last year“, assured this Tuesday the account of the Twitter communication team on the platform.
now that everyone is asking…
yes, we’ve been working on an edit feature since last year!
no, we didn’t get the idea from a poll 😉
we’re kicking off testing within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months to learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.

So far, when a Twitter user posts a tweet, there is no way to edit it if it has a typo or incorrect data. Accounts can only delete it.
The edit button will start testing in the coming months among paying Twitter Blue subscribersthe variant of the platform with exclusive functions, such as undoing the sending of tweets in a limited time window.
Twitter will use the tests between Twitter Blue users to “learn what works, what doesn’t and what is possible“, As the social platform has advanced.
Twitter modifies the way of ordering tweets chronologically: now it requires activating it every time the application is opened
The button to edit tweets will be located in the drop-down menu when pressing the options icon illustrated with three dots that accompanies all tweets, as Twitter has shown in an image. You will be under the functions to delete the tweet, change who can reply or add or remove it from the lists.
On April 1, Twitter had already anticipated that it was working on an edit button, but most users associated this ad with a joke coinciding with Fools Day in the United States, which is celebrated on that date. “We were not joking,” the company has now assured.
This announcement has come just one day after Tesla CEO, Elon Musk –which only a few days ago bought 9.2% of Twitter shares–, asked his followers through a survey if they wanted an edit button on twitterwith the support of more than 73% and 4.4 million votes cast.
“No, we did not receive the idea of a survey”has now secured the Twitter communication account in reference to the survey recently published by the American businessman.
Musk has already been named a member of the Twitter board, as announced by the platform’s CEO, Parag Agrawal, successor since November last year of his co-founder, Jack Dorsey. Although the investment does not imply that Musk will demand changes in Twitter, lExperts expect him to meddle in internal affairs and anticipate conflicts with the CEO.
