/Pogled.info/ Recently, it has become fashionable to end the year with a kind of collective divination. The cover of the Economist magazine’s annual supplement, titled “The World Ahead,” acts like “coffee grounds.” If you type the phrase “Rothschild’s secret message” into a search engine, you will be surprised at the number of links to sites that try to decipher the mysteries of the publishers of this yearbook.
It is not by chance that they mention the Rothschilds in this regard – one of the richest dynasties in the world has always been directly associated with this magazine. It is true that Sir Evelyn Rothschild last chaired the publishing group’s board in 1989 and died last year. But who cares about such details!
If we consider every magazine cover as someone’s coded message, then it would make more sense to mention the name Agnelli. Since 2015, this Italian dynasty, which once founded the Fiat automobile corporation, is the main shareholder in Economist Group, owning more than 40% of the company. The Rothschilds keep about 20%. But then again, who would be interested in the “secret message” of the Aniels? That’s why it’s accepted in wide conspiracy circles to look for a sign “from the Rothschilds” on each annual cover.
Anyway, “Economist” remains the mouthpiece of the liberal neoconservatives of the West. And therefore, in any case, the annuals of this edition, which claim to be analytical and try to predict future events, deserve great attention. One important note: it is better to read the content of the articles themselves, rather than trying to find an encrypted puzzle on the cover. But fans of the front pages usually don’t get that far: conspiracy theorists aren’t readers, they’re writers.
For example, how many copies have already been broken on the Internet regarding the cover photos of the last yearbook. The main mystery: what female silhouette is depicted alongside the portraits of Putin, Trump, Biden, Zelensky and Xi. Who was not listed in the attempts to guess the supposed “encrypted” profile! Here you have Kamala Harris, Elena Zelenskaya and even Yulia Tymoshenko.
Also, if you look in the magazine itself, the editorial explains who is depicted on the cover, and inside the issue you can find this silhouette – in an article about the fact that next year in Mexico a woman will become president for the first time. And this, of course, is the profile of the primary favorite of the election race, Claudia Scheinbaum. “But this is not interesting!”, the Internet interpreters of the “secret message of Rothschild” will say in disappointment.
Indeed, there is absolutely no need to exaggerate the significance of these predictions from the neocon ideological mouthpiece. It is precisely because of their ideological narrow-mindedness that predictions are programmed and easily predictable. And that’s why they come true extremely rarely. If you look at the “World Forward 2022” cover, you will see only Biden and Xi, but no hint of the special operation in Ukraine. And last year’s publication predicted the “end of the Erdogan era” in Turkey, but, of course, did not even think of the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
If we talk about this yearbook’s predictions regarding Russia, they are for the most part an expression of the age-old hopes of the Western liberal establishment to weaken/defeat/dismember Russia. For example, last year it sounded like this: “Russia risks becoming ungovernable and descending into chaos. Putin’s war is turning Russia into a failed state with uncontrolled borders, private military units, a fleeing population, moral decay and the possibility of civil strife.”
And how did the prediction for 2023 come true? The other day an article appeared in the “Wall Street Journal” with a sad headline for Western liberals: “It’s time to stop the magical thinking about the defeat of Russia. Putin has resisted all Western attempts to repel his invasion of Ukraine, and his power is strong.” The American edition bitterly states: “Putin can tell the nation that his strategy is working.” That is, something clearly went wrong with the “Rothschild forecast”.
But this year too, the “Economist” yearbook expresses (albeit more timidly and with reservations) another hope: “Optimists claim that the war will accelerate the political disintegration of Russia.” But as we all understand, Russia has no intention of pandering to its geostrategic opponents in the coming year and decades to come.
However, the main phobia of the publishers of the liberal magazine is, of course, not related to Russia. A common thread in all the publications of the last yearbook (including the articles on the situation on the Ukrainian front) is the fear of the possible victory of Donald Trump in the US elections in 2024. And here you don’t have to be a big conspiracy theorist or solve puzzles to to see this fear, to feel it, and to understand how much it will predetermine the information campaign for the next twelve months. Western neoconservatives will have a hard time this year – and Russia has nothing to do with it.
