The Economist Warns of Greatest Danger in 2024: Former US President Donald Trump

The greatest danger to the world in 2024 is the former US President Donald Trump, warns the British magazine “The Economist”.

“Trump’s Second Term [ASV prezidenta amatā] will be a watershed in a way that the first one was not,” the magazine says.

“The fate of the world will depend on a few tens of thousands of voters in a few states” in the 2024 US elections, the publication said.

Trump’s next four years in the White House will be “much more disastrous” than his previous term, the magazine predicts in its annual The World Ahead survey.

China and its friends will rejoice at evidence that American democracy is dysfunctional,” and Beijing “could easily miscalculate Taiwan with disastrous consequences,” writes The Economist.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, on the other hand, “could be encouraged to continue the fight in Ukraine and target other former Soviet states, such as Moldova and the Baltic states,” the magazine said.

“Trump poses the greatest threat to his own country,” the magazine explains.

The moral authority of the United States will shrink “because America will have elected him knowing he is the worst,” the publication said.

“In pursuit of his enemies,” Trump “will wage war against all institutions that stand in his way, including the courts and the Department of Justice,” the magazine said.

Trump is currently far ahead of the other contenders for the Republican White House nomination in public opinion polls.

According to a poll conducted by the “New York Times” newspaper this month, Trump will defeat the current US President Joe Biden in five of the six swing states in which Biden won in 2020.
