“I wouldn’t call the water after the flood dirty,” Environment and Water Minister Julian Popov said on This Morning.
He specified that the sea is polluted with waste, as after any storm, but this does not mean that the water is dirty.
“The sea is a sea, it absorbs waste, it spreads. What we see now is that it is being cleared,” commented Popov.
The minister also commented that the use of water for domestic purposes is not really prohibited, but the local authority must warn people if there is a risk to their health. “There cannot be certain points to wait for,” said Popov.
“Dirty water is water that contains chemical or biological waste. In recent years, the quality of water in the Black Sea has been improving,” he added.
The minister also cited two studies, according to which there is pollution on the beaches.
Regarding the photos of pipes along the Black Sea that were exposed after the flood, the eco-minister commented that the explanation for rainwater is credible.
“What we found out is that the pipes are legal. “Whether they are made properly and whether they do not mix with domestic water during a downpour is another matter,” said Julian Popov.
