The lighting of the building began at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Lines and circles in blue and yellow, the colors of the European Union, were visible on the façade of the building.
From now on, every evening until 9 January, various messages on the euro will be displayed in the 15 eurozone languages on the ECB’s premises.
Euro coins and banknotes were put into circulation on 1 January 2002.
The euro was introduced in Latvia on January 1, 2014.
