He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Physics from the University of Indonesia who continued his master’s studies at the Climate and Environmental Physics Institute, University of Bern, in Switzerland. He then took his doctorate at the Institute for Environmental Studies, Vrije Universitat, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
