The Earring Incident Colored Inter Milan’s Victory Over Spezia

Inter Milan continues to put pressure on its city rivals, AC Milan, in the hunt for the Scudetto after recording a 3-1 victory at the Alberto Picco Stadium, Saturday (16/4) early morning WIB.

The result saw Inter record three straight wins in Serie A. They are now on 69 points, and have one more game left. Before the game started, Inter were two points behind Milan.

The match between Spezia and Inter was colored by interesting incidents. It started when M’Bala Nzola came on in the 60th minute to replace Rey Manaj. In the middle of the match, the referee saw something odd in Nzola’s ear.

It turned out that Nzola was still playing with the bandage covered in his earring. The referee then asked Nzola to remove his earrings, for violating the rules of the game.

Nzola and Spezia officials tried to remove the earrings. But the effort was fruitless. Finally a visibly irritated coach Thiago Motta pulled off Nzola in the 70th minute to make a final change to include Janis Antiste.

The incident occurred when Spezia trailed 1-0 by Marcelo Brozovic’s goal which was scored in the 31st minute. It was Brozovic’s first goal as well as being the 17th player to score against the opponent this season.

Overall, the duel between Spezia and Inter went interesting, as both teams showed an open game, and took turns attacking. But the score 1-0 did not change.

The battle remained fierce in the second half. After the Nzola incident, the wind direction began to change. Inter were able to put pressure on the hosts’ defense until they finally doubled their lead in the 73rd minute.

Starting from Ivan Perisic’s movement on the right side of the Spezia defence, the number 14 player then fired a shot towards the goal, and Lautaro Martinez, who came on as a substitute, turned the ball, making goalkeeper Ivan Provedel surprised.
