The Eagles Co-founder and Guitarist Randy Meisner Dies at 77

The day before yesterday in Los Angeles, at the age of 77, the American guitarist and singer Randy Meisner, who co-founded the band “The Eagles”, died of complications from a chronic lung disease, according to what was stated in a statement on the band’s website.

Randy Messner was the guitarist and lead vocalist of the Eagles, one of the best-selling rock bands in history, with hits such as Hotel California, Take It Easy and One of These Nights.

“Randy was an integral part of (The Eagles) and his role was instrumental in the band’s first success,” the statement read. The range of his vocal range was astonishing, and his famous song “Take It to the Limit” is the perfect expression of that.

Before co-founding the Eagles, Messner, who was born in March 1946 into a family of Nebraska farmers, played with Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band and Poko.

More than 150 million copies of Eagles albums were sold during its nearly half-century career, and in 1998 it was included in the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.

The band begins with its current line-up of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmidt has her final concert tour, starting in September, in New York, and is expected to continue until 2025.
