The dynamic island of the iPhone can also support “one-handed mode”, becoming two islands (huh) – Computer King Ada

With many iPhone 14 Pro users officially becoming the owners of “Dynamic Island” (congratulations). In the first wave of experience, many people seem to think that Apple has completely abandoned the one-handed experience of the iPhone. Now it looks like Apple Island and screen digging aren’t really a “necessary connection” but they overlap (huh). Because through the latest iOS beta, the one-handed mode of the system also officially included the display column of links to the dynamic island capsule under the auxiliary functions. The dynamic island of the iPhone can also support “one-handed mode”, becoming two islands (huh)

In our quick experience with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, we talked about the fact that the dynamic island capsule display feature has long been seen in many corners of the Apple ecosystem. So I think such an experience may not necessarily be related to what many people consider a “defective” piercing screen. But Apple did not support such an experience with the one-handed touch-over-screen accessibility feature when the new experience was first launched. It makes people think that perhaps the so-called dynamic island is just the product of simply trying to block the hole in the screen, which leads to the problem of inconsistent one-handed experience.

However, Apple was quick to tell everyone via the latest iOS beta that not everything is as everyone imagined. Due to the dynamic experience of the island, it is possible to dig holes away from the screen – Own two islands at the same time, earn!

In the latest beta version of iOS 16.1 (the Public Beta version was also pushed and the editor reproduced it). Provided that you have activated the “Settings> Accessibility> Touch at the top of the screen” function of the system. This gesture can “swipe down” in the lower system function bar to move the upper half of the screen to the lower half, which is the so-called one-handed mode. The control display bar for dynamic islands is also now officially supported.

As for how to get it, is to move the black capsule lock that covers the bottom of the screen hole to the center of the screen together. And all the functions and images of the display that can be reproduced on the dynamic island can also be obtained through this capsule: in particular, the experience should be better, after all, the touch detection range is more complete and the goal for selfies not to be hit (does this solve the problem of fear of the lens getting dirty?).

This design not only alleviates many people’s doubts about Apple’s innovation, it ignores the one-handed experience of the big screen. On the other hand, as the dynamic island may exist outside the hole digging area, this means it should be the same as the previous iOS or even watchOS capsule notification experience and may not necessarily need to have a hole – excavation screen in the future to provide this quick view feature.

It is estimated that in the era of true full-screen, Apple should also provide users with the choice of whether to hide or activate such a feature that combines displays and multitasking operations?
