Pon.Bike plans to create 300 jobs in Lithuania in the first three years of operation, but the number could increase to 500 in the future, according to the Lithuanian Foreign Investment Promotion Agency Investuok Lietuvoje.
Jacques Geissen, a spokesman for the company, said the company was considering a number of possible plant locations in Central and Eastern Europe, recognizing Lithuania as the best option.
He praised Lithuania for its stability, simplification of business processes and opportunities for a motivated and skilled workforce and logistics.
The Dutch holding company Pon Holdings, which has a history of more than a hundred years in various industries, established Pon.Bike in 2011, which has become the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer with 2,400 employees worldwide. The company recently took over the owner of the internationally renowned brand Cannondale, Dorel Sports, and the combined turnover of the two companies is planned at 2.5 billion euros a year.
Pon.Bike’s portfolio includes more than ten high-end bicycle brands, including Cervelo, Santa Cruz, Gazelle, Urban Arrow and others. The group’s portfolio also includes brands of electric bicycles.
