from a research by Kantar The Netherlands turns out that 2021 was a year in which a lot of Dutch people made a crypto investment for the first time. Despite the often intense volatility of crypto prices, more than half a million Dutch people took the risk and invested in one or more cryptocurrencies for the first time.
Crypto in Nederland
Recently it was already Ipsos investigated how many Dutch people actually own crypto coins. This research showed that at least 1.2 million Dutch people over the age of 18 own cryptocurrencies. Especially bitcoin (BTC) in ethereum (ETH) are cryptocurrencies that are well liked by the Dutch.
However, Ipsos’s research was a lot smaller than Kantar’s. For example, Ipsos questioned only a few hundred Dutch people, while Kantar questioned more than 40,000 Dutch people.
The results of Kantar’s research therefore do not fully correspond with this research by Ipsos. The large-scale study by Kantar shows that at least 1.6 million people in the Netherlands cryptocurrencies to own!
At least 570,000 Dutch people would only have made a crypto investment for the first time in 2021. It is clear that this was an excellent year for the crypto industry in the Netherlands.
There is also a group of at least 400,000 Dutch people on the sidelines with some interest in investing in cryptocurrencies in the near future, according to Kantar’s research. It should be noted that the prices should show somewhat positive things.
Diverse group
Kantar’s new research also shows that it’s not just young men who invest in crypto. Among the Dutch crypto investors who joined in 2021, no less than 42% are women.
In addition, many different age categories of the Dutch population are well represented. Not only young people are investing in crypto on a large scale, people in their thirties and forties are also increasingly getting in. The level of education also appears to play a role. Low-educated Dutch people seem to be less involved in the world of crypto.
