Even though there is a total ban on fireworks in the Netherlands due to the corona crisis, firecrackers and flares are sold more than usual at Belgian sellers in the border region this month. “Lighting fireworks at New Years is a Dutch tradition and I think that this year as many fireworks will be lit as before, despite the ban,” says Erik De Sutter of Hubo Zelzate.
