Wearing a mouth mask was recently ‘urgently advised’ by our northern neighbors. And so the Dutch still have to work with a needle and thread to make mouth masks themselves, more than six months later than we do. That is not quite going smoothly, it now appears. The government’s manual for making a non-medical mouth mask has already been amended.

The Ministry of Health has put a new instruction online, with the correct dimensions. This happened after research program Cash desk reported that the dimensions were incorrect. Converting US inches (2.54 centimeters) to centimeters went wrong. That is why the cartridge of the mouth mask came out too big, so that the fabric does not fit properly in many cases.
The piece of fabric with which the mouth mask can be made must be 25.4 by 15.2 centimeters, according to the instructions that were placed on Saturday. In the old version this was 27 by 20 centimeters. The elastic around the ears is also shorter, from 18 to 15.2 centimeters.
