Antwerp – More and more Dutch people are buying or renting homes in the border municipalities in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Where in the past mainly wealthy Dutch people crossed the border for tax reasons to reside in large buildings, ‘Jan met de pet’ is now also active on the Kempen real estate market. “Houses in the Netherlands have become much too expensive,” explains Karel Vanacker, manager of the real estate agency ERA ONE. “For 300,000 euros you don’t even have a home anymore.”
