By taking a look at the editorials of May 17 in the American press, one can have the impression of being faced with two parallel worlds. Pour The Washington Post, the Durham report, harsh criticism of the FBI’s investigation into links between Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia, “revealed virtually nothing”. On his side, The Wall Street Journal see it “a damning account of the corruption of the FBI and its accomplices”, launching in title: “Why the Durham Report Matters for Democracy”.
Appointed in 2019 by William Barr, Donald Trump’s Minister of Justice, Special Prosecutor John Durham will have conducted for almost four years his own investigation into the famous “Russian investigation”, which in the end had not established any collusion between the Trump clan and Moscow. Durham had previously charged two people, both acquitted, while a former FBI attorney pleaded guilty to redacting an email to obtain surveillance clearance.
