London, Feb 27 (EFE) .- The Duke of Cambridge, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, on Saturday encouraged the British population to get vaccinated against covid-19, and referred to “the rumors and misinformation” in social media about vaccines.

The duke made these comments after the health authorities have admitted that there is a reluctance of some sectors of the population, especially ethnic minorities, to be vaccinated.

However, more than 19 million people have received the first of two doses of the preparation in the United Kingdom.

In a virtual conversation with two women who are among the most vulnerable groups, Prince William spoke about misinformation and also the importance of young people accepting the vaccine when their turn comes.

The grandson of Elizabeth II, second in the line of succession to the British crown, spoke last Tuesday with Shivali Modha, type 2 diabetic, and Fiona Doyle, asthmatic, when they were waiting to receive the vaccine and after doubting whether to get vaccinated or not, according to the conversation disclosed this Saturday by the media.

“Catherine (Duchess of Cambridge) and I are not medical experts at all but if it’s any consolation, we fully support vaccinations. It’s really important,” Guillermo told them.

The prince asked to continue with this immunization program “so that the younger generations also feel that it is really important that they have” the vaccine.

“It’s great that you, Shivali, have taken the time to decide” because “social media is sometimes flooded with rumors and misinformation, so we have to be a little careful who we believe and where we get the information from,” he added. .

“Especially those who are clinically vulnerable, it is important that they get vaccinated,” he insisted.

Queen Elizabeth II also recently encouraged people to get vaccinated and think about others, she said in a virtual conversation with British health workers.

The 94-year-old monarch and her husband, the 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, were vaccinated last January at Windsor Castle, outside London.

British Health is already offering the vaccine to those over 60 years of age and the Government has set itself the goal of vaccinating everyone over 50 by April 15 and the entire adult population by the end of July. EFE
