George Broussard confirms – but does not want to “revive a painful past”.

Many of us have moved on to the right cash Duke Nukem Forever which was released in 2011, fifteen years and countless delays after Duke Nukem 3D. But soon it may be possible to test the version of the game that was shown at the E3 fair in 2001.
That version seems to have leaked. IN a post on 4chan, the user “x0r” shares what appears to be playable code and content information. The material is said to contain more or less every chapter of the imaginary game, but only some of them have enemies – others lack content. The sums up site Duke4.net. The material from the E3 screening in 2001 will be included, and films show parties both with and without enemies. Most weapons should work (but not chainsaws and freezers), as well as the editor should be fully functional.
The leak says that both the source code and the editor will be released online in June, which could lead to lots of Duke Nukem Forevermaterial of 2001 model. If this happens, there is of course a risk that it is illegal to download, as well as a risk that it may contain malicious code that you absolutely do not want in your computer.
George Broussard, one of Duke’s creators, says in a tweet that the leak appears to be genuine. Otherwise, he does not want to talk about the matter. Or as he puts it: “revive a painful past”. But he adds that it is not a “game” that leaked, rather a bunch of test tracks. He concludes that he has no idea who leaked the material.
A bunch of movie clips from the leak:
