The driving instructor lost the ticket after rough driving

During the trial of the reckless driving in Oslo District Court last summer, the man confessed to having driven 137 kilometers per hour in the 80-zone, and he was deprived of the ticket for ten months.

Nevertheless, he continued to work as a driving instructor, even though he did not have a valid driver’s license. In February this year, the man was sentenced to 24 days in prison in the district court for having had at least 109 hours of driving training with around 18 students over a three-month period after the man had lost his ticket.

It was only when the Norwegian Public Roads Administration carried out an inspection of the driving school in September last year that the man stopped driving training. He was also sentenced to lose his driving license for another year.

The prosecutor believed that the punishment was too low and appealed. When the case went to the Borgarting Court of Appeal on Thursday this week, the prosecutor asked for 90 days in prison for the man and that he be deprived of his driver’s license for three years.

The Court of Appeal agreed that the district court’s prison sentence was too lenient and set the time at 60 days. It nevertheless agreed with the district court that the man should be deprived of his driving license for one year, calculated from 9 February this year.
