Czech laws determine exactly what technical condition cars are allowed on the road. And they are quite strict, they won’t pass a cracked windshield, wheels other than those written in the technician’s manual, and other, at first glance, little things. In the same way, the laws state absolutely clearly that a driver may not go on the road if he does not have both registration plates on the car. However, the driver did not comply with any of this, which the police patrol in Svitavy could not fail to notice.
The car he used to hit the road didn’t have the entire front end, i.e. the bumper, mudguards, headlights, mask and not even the license plate. There were no fenders and a bumper at the back either, the doors were only held in place thanks to adhesive tape, and the car didn’t even have rear lights. Considering that it went from the paint shop to the service, where it was probably supposed to be completed, the only thing that was in good condition was the paint. It is not surprising that, according to the police, the driver faces a fine of up to CZK 10,000 in administrative proceedings.
For clarification, we would like to add that a car is not technically eligible if it has any of the defects listed in Decree No. 341/2002 Coll., specifically in paragraph 36. Among other things, it can be, for example, defects in the lighting, when it is not possible to switch from high beams to meeting. And since the driver had no headlights, he couldn’t even switch them on.
And the problem was also the missing front bumper and thus the missing front registration plate. Even though he had the rear, the front must also be on the car. However, even though he only lacked one, the car would not look good on the road without it.
