the driver had 2.78 g of alcohol in his blood

This is certainly one of the highest rates recorded in the department in recent years. In the night between 28 and 29 October, in Béchy, a thirty-year-old committed suicide at the wheel of his small utility vehicle. The results of alcohol and drug screening have just arrived.

And it turns out that the motorist drove with 2.78 grams of alcohol in his blood. The tragedy occurred around 1:00 am on the RD 910, between Rémilly and Saint-Avold. The Peugeot van had deviated from its trajectory to finish, 300m ahead, on its side, in a wooded area.

The man, originally from Moldova, was in cardiac arrest when help arrived. His compatriot, a passenger in the vehicle, escaped with minor injuries. He was heard the next day by soldiers from Verny’s Brigade community.

The 31-year-old man said he and his partner, who lived in the Sarrebourg region, had set off after working on a construction site in Paris. “Removed any medical-legal obstacles, the body was returned to the family,” says one with the company of the Metz gendarmerie.
