The dramatic situation that is overwhelming Stellantis – and its people – does not stop workers – and the Ford brand, things are getting serious and no one knows how to react.
Treating your workers well is a mantra for anyone who owns a business, no matter how small or large it is. It doesn’t even matter if it is a giant that literally invoices billions of dollars every year like Ford or of Euros like the Stellantis Group which, among other things, includes in its orbit the brands Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati, all real and jewels of Italian industry. Everything stops for both Ford and Stellantis! (Ansa) – Derapate.it
If not out of ethics and respect, this behavior should be implemented just to avoid devastating strikes like the one that has been bleeding two automotive giants in the USA for days such as the famous Ford Group – owner among other things of Mercury and Lincoln – and the Stellantis Group, now devoid of choice if not listen to the workers came down to protest in the squares after some situations that didn’t go down well with the employees.
Officially started over a month ago, the strike called by the United Auto Workers – a union that protects the rights of workers in the automotive sector in North America – has literally led to disaster all the main car manufacturers on the continent starting from the two we mentioned but also including General Motors, which saw several workers join the protests. But it’s not over and the damage is enormous.
Record losses
By now, with the last 5,000 employees having decided not to enter the Arlington, Washington-area GM plant where they are employed, the number of employees has risen to 45,000 of companies – rivals of each other but now tragicomically in the same situation – who refuse to return to work before having received guarantees regarding the renewal of the contract for the numerous metalworkers who work at the three companies overseas. The UAW strike continues, day and night (Ansa) – Derapate.it
The brands apparently failed to reach an agreement with their employees and the “discontents” of the workers they are costing the three car giants very dearly, for which losses ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 dollars a week are estimated given that the cars are not being produced in the plants: the latest blow came for GM which declared a loss of 7 % of monthly profit. Great Depression stuff from ’29…
The strike – according to the union – will only end when the workers they will have received what they ask for, not before, with a battle of attrition that includes on the one hand people who, if they don’t work, don’t bring money home, but on the other three large companies that are dealing with truly devastating losses. How long can this go on?
