Inter rolled against Udinese in the fall, and now the Milanese team was the contender. Simone Inzaghi’s team confidently leads the table, while the Friulians are still threatened by the fear of relegation.
Inter started comfortably, in the first half hour there was no serious threat in front of the home goal. In the 30th minute, Hakan Calhanoglu got tired of inaction, his excellent bomb was brilliantly saved by Maduka Okoye.
Ten minutes later, Udinese took the lead practically out of nowhere: Lazar Samardzic’s ball to the center bounced off the feet of Carlos Augusto, and Denzel Dumfries and Yann Sommer just watched as the ball drifted into the right corner.
After the break, Inter, who had dominated the field until then, changed gears, and in the 48th minute, Carlos Augusto shot into the net from close range, but offside. After five minutes, however, Okoye made a terrible move out of his goal, brought down Marcus Thuram, and Calhanoglu confidently slotted the awarded penalty into the right corner.
It almost seemed that Udinese would save a point, but in the 95th minute Lautaro Martínez’s shot could only be pushed onto the post by Okoye, and Davide Frattesi received the rebound and put it into the goal from close range. In this way, Inter restored the 14-point difference against Milan, and they can already be champions in the next derby in two weeks.
