The DPT Vaccine Runs Out, Many Toddlers in Bangka Belitung Have Not Been Vaccinated, This Is The Cause

BANGKAPOS.COM, BANGKA — Toddlers across the Province Bangka Belitung have not been immunized, the cause is the Depteri Pertussis Tetanus (DPT) vaccine runs out.

The DPT vaccine is suspected to have run out a few months ago.

This vaccine is given from children aged 2 months to 1 year to prevent three diseases of diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Bangka Belitung Health Office, Ira Ajeng Astrid, admitted that the supply of DPT vaccine had run out, the Provincial Government Bangka Belitunghave not received the stock of vaccines back from the central government.

“It’s also empty for us, the last one was in July. If we only received a drop from the central government, then we distributed it to regencies/cities. Now at the center we are currently in the procurement process,” explained Astrid to Bangkapos.com, Monday (11/11). 10/2021).

Astrid emphasized that the Provincial Health Office Bangka Belitung its nature is to distribute the DPT vaccine which is imported directly from the central government to the regions, then distributed to regencies/cities.

“For the procurement of the DPT vaccine, it is at the center, not in the province Bangka Belitung. So we just received, then shared. We are still waiting for delivery from the center until now,” he explained.

He explained that DPT immunization is very important, in an effort to protect children from diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.
