The DPS asked the CSNS to develop a position on resolving the crisis in Syria –

/ world today news/ DPS asked the president to convene the CSNS to develop a Bulgarian position on resolving the crisis in Syria.

The BSP agreed. Atanas Merdzhanov elaborated: We insist that the CSNS should be convened a long time ago, first of all, on the refugee crisis.

The dynamics of geopolitical processes are such that the world changes not in days, but in hours, DPS leader Lutvi Mestan announced from the parliamentary rostrum.

We are facing perhaps the worst geopolitical crisis in recent decades, he pointed out.

The summit in New York showed that it is not possible to reach a common position within the UN Security Council on the crisis in Syria and Ukraine.

After the meeting of the presidents of the two superpowers – the USA and Russia, it became clear that the two presidents have different positions on solving the problem with the Islamic State. President Obama is adamant that the solution is to remove Assad. Russia’s position is that this crisis can be overcome with the participation of Assad, explained Mestan and specified that in this situation the question arises of how to protect the EU and what is Bulgaria’s position.

The protection of the interests of the EU and the common Euro-Atlantic area, according to Mestan, cannot be the responsibility of the “bosses” from Brussels alone. It is the responsibility of each of the member states, he emphasized. According to him, our country should have its own clear position .

Mestan pointed out that for now the wave of refugees is bypassing Bulgaria, but he pointed out that it is not clear how long this will last and that our country can hardly remain an island of security.

Bulgaria can actively participate in the process of developing a common, solid, decisive position of the EU, Lyutvi Mestan also said.

He recalled that the DPS has a plan to respond to the refugee crisis. The most adequate response to the crisis is the expansion of the EU’s security zone by continuing the expansion of the union in the direction of the Western Balkans and South-Eastern Europe, the DPS leader also stated.

The Western Balkans outside the EU generate more uncertainty and threats for the EU than if they become an integral part of the union itself, he is convinced.
