US Department of Commerce said Retail sales remained flat in September. Or up 0.0%, below analysts’ expectations for a 0.2% rise after gaining 0.4% in August.
Basic Retail Sales, which exclude automobiles, oil, construction materials and food, were up 0.4% in September after rising 0.2% in August.
The US Department of Labor released its CPI index, a measure of consumer inflation, up 8.2% in September year-on-year. It was 8.1% higher than analysts’ expectations. And month-over-month, CPI rose 0.4% in September, above analysts’ expectations of 0.3%, reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will continue to raise interest rates so aggressive in the coming months.
