The best prepared took advantage of the opportunity to run at night and the next day over 10 or 20 km. This is the case of two Navarrese runners: Lujanbio Apezetxea and Piero Ochoa, in the first two places of the 10 km night and the 20 km. Valentin Lamolère (Ascain), for his part, triumphed alone in the daytime 10 km.
Like a cross
With sand and a few mounds, the course looked like a real cross country. A terrain that favored runners coming out of the winter campaign. “It suited me well with a lot of reminders, I surf on the preparation of the crosses”, welcomed Valentin Lamolère, who distanced two minutes from his rival Elian Pergher. “I was born here, very close to the forest, says the young runner from Anglet, who now lives in Agen. I come back every year to this race which I really like. Biarrot Maxime Sinisi completes the podium. On the women’s side, a Canadian, Lindsay Senac, won for the first time.
This sixth edition of the Chibertrail will remain marked by the double success of the Navarrese Lujanbio Apezetxea, winner on Saturday of the 10 km night (38 min 07) and Sunday morning of the 20 km (1 h 18 min 12). A feat that only Benoît Cori had achieved in 2020. “The 20 km was a bit hard. I had a sore leg at the end of the course but the 10 km was rather fast. At 39, this runner turned to half-marathons. He is a devotee of Behobia – San Sebastian. Note on this 20 km, the third place of Bayonnais Rémi Van Duong, who is none other than the president of the cyclist section of Rowing. On the women’s side, hats off to the Biarrotte Marine Castro, who won her first success after ten years of practice.
