In November, doses of the yellow fever vaccine will be administered at Señor del Milagro hospital.
Those interested in taking organic products must go to the hospital vaccination center, located in Avenida Sarmiento 557, with an identity document and without an appointment. It operates from Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 to 18:00 and on Fridays and Saturdays, from 8:00 to 16:00.
In addition, people who have been vaccinated in previous years in this institution can apply for the corresponding certificate.
Anyone who has to apply the vaccine to travel to another country must do it – at least – 10 days in advance.
What is yellow fever
It is a viral disease that is transmitted through the bites of some species of mosquitoes. It can be serious and lead to death. It has no treatment, but it can be prevented:
Through vaccination: provides protection after 10 days of application and lasts for a lifetime.
Use repellents.
Wear long-sleeved clothing in light, uniform colors.
Place mosquito nets in the house.
Eliminate containers that can accumulate water in homes.
Have mosquito nets, air conditioning and / or fan in the accommodation.
Information for travelers
Vaccination is recommended if the destination is an area with a known risk of yellow fever transmission. Those with no contraindications or precautions should receive the vaccine at least ten days before arriving at their destination.
Some countries require the presentation of the international certificate as a requirement to enter their territory.
Remember that it is an endemic disease in tropical areas of Africa and Latin America, so it is recommended to apply it if you are traveling to any of these destinations.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), in the Americas, between 1985 and 2012, 95% of cases were concentrated in 4 countries: respectively Peru 54%, Bolivia 18%, Brazil 16% and Colombia 7 %.
Furthermore, in the American continent, the countries that present conditions for the transmission of yellow fever are: Argentina, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Panama, Paraguay, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
