The doses against the flu arrived in Entre Ríos: vaccination begins on Friday – Society

In view of the launch of the Flu Vaccination campaign that will take place this Friday simultaneously with all the provinces, the Ministry of Health of Entre Ríos received the first 38,080 doses of vaccines on Wednesday. They arrived at the Chamber located in the Roads building in the city of Paraná.
“The circulation of influenza was advanced; infections are higher than we expected for this time of year, because they are usually registered in winter, and the vaccination campaign had to be brought forward: the doses arrived in the country on Friday and are being distributed to all provinces, “he said. to Elonce the provincial director of Epidemiology, Diego Garcilazo. As he confirmed, this Wednesday the first 38,000 doses arrived in Entre Ríos and will be distributed throughout the province to start on Friday with vaccination throughout the country.

Regarding the flu vaccination operation, Garcilazo explained that “it will be staggered because it will start with risk groups: risk personnel and pregnant women. Then it will be advanced with those over 65 years of age and children between 6 and 24 months (children have two doses of vaccine, not one like adults) and then it will continue with those people who have a chronic disease, such as lung disease. or cardiological, or immunosuppression, that is, they have very low defenses due to some disease or treatment”. For the latter cases, the patient “must certify the risk factor and for which the vaccine is indicated.”

The provincial official stressed that the flu vaccine “is trivalent and is updated every year, that is, every year you have to get vaccinated against the flu.”

In relation to the number of doses that arrive in Entre Ríos, he mentioned that “there are three or four batches per year and it will depend on the progress of vaccination because not every year the same number of people are vaccinated.” Similarly, he commented that, on average, there are “between 200 and 300 thousand doses.”

“Last year, due to the vaccination against Covid-19, what is influenza was not taken into account; That is why it is very important to return to the high percentages of vaccination”, stressed the epidemiologist.

In this sense, he clarified that it is now recommended to apply the vaccines against Covid-19 and against the flu together, on the same day, “so as not to miss vaccination opportunities.”

The vaccine is aimed at health personnel, pregnant people at any time during pregnancy, postpartum people, the general population over 65 years of age, girls and boys from 6 to 24 months of age, and those between 2 and 64 years of age and presenting risk factor’s.
In this first stage, health personnel, pregnant women (in any trimester of pregnancy) and puerperal women (up to 10 days postpartum) will begin to be inoculated, to then continue progressively with the other groups.

It is worth mentioning that the Campaign has been carried out continuously since 2010, incorporating this vaccine into the National Calendar in 2011, and generally starting between April and May. With the anticipated circulation of the influenza virus in 2022, it was decided to advance the start date of the strategy, starting this Friday, March 25 for the aforementioned groups.

On the use of the chinstrap in Crespo schools

In Crespo it will be optional to wear a mask in closed places, except in schools; This is how Mayor Darío Schneider ordered it when signing a decree detailing that the use of the mask remains as a “recommendation” in shops, offices, salons, among others.

In this regard, Garcilazo clarified that “a national decree governs that proposes the use of the chinstrap in closed spaces.” “From the Health area we have no doubts about the use of the chinstrap to reduce the transmission of the virus; there is no other more effective tool for person-to-person transmission of the virus,” he stressed.
