Popular and appreciated by all audiences, the donkey festival is organized by the Loire Club of Friends of Donkeys and Mules (Claam), created more than fifteen years ago by enthusiasts; The latter thus wished to restore to these animals, long necessary for life in the countryside, their letters of nobility and to make them better known.
The festivities begin today, from 3 p.m., in the castle park. Visitors will discover the farm of happiness, where they can approach rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep and many other animals.

They will also benefit from numerous stalls and rides on donkeys and carriages. Not to mention the carnival which will delight the children.
Tomorrow, the parade in the city center, starting at 11 a.m., is an event not to be missed. The decorated teams and the donkeys will be accompanied by the Alouette, the brass band of Pithiviers. At noon, the inauguration and reception will take place in front of the orangery.
The afternoon will be punctuated by entertainment and shows: maneuverability competition, which requires patience and skill; musical atmosphere with the New Orleans Jazz group; presentation of birds of prey and exhibition of paintings by animal painter Ella Vialle.
A little new, the donkey weighing contest will be replaced by a game that will consist of guessing its age. The celebration will end with the blessing of the donkeys, born this year, by the priest of Châteauneuf.
Two festive days to share with family or friends, with the possibility of eating on site.
